Webb & Bower, 1982. [First edition]. Introduction by John Arlott;
27 pp. of text at front discussing Vanity Fair, the cricketing caricatures,
the history and spread of the game; 4 appendices at rear; illustrated with
full-colour reproductions of 37 cricketing Vanity fair prints, plus those
of Ape (Carlo Pellegrini) and Spy (Leslie Ward); also reproduces each man's
Jehu Junior biography. A fine copy in original green boards, lettered in gilt
on spine. Pale yellow pictorial (Lord Hawke on front W.G. Grace on rear) dust
jacket fresh and clean; tiny crease near lower rear spine.

[n.d.].[Later edition]. "Illustrated" throughout with photos, drawings, and b/w and
colour reproductions of the Vanity Fair caricatures; does not include the two-page
"Preface" found in the first edition. Original red cloth, lettered in gilt on spine,
blind-stamped on front cover; cloth now lightly soiled, spine a touch faded; front
corners bumped, spine ends creased. Endpapers and adjacent leaves age-toned (those
at rear creased vertically); thumbing to title and contents pages; a few pages
roughly opened. A very good copy of "Spy"'s autobiography.
